K!d Power was born out of a desire to ignite conversation with our youth about the importance of psychological, social, and physical well-being. Through a variety of mediums, K!d Power delivers an interactive educational experience for children ages 3-7, fostering total mind-body wellness using an entertaining and playful foundation. K!d Power programs utilize a rich combination of fact and fantasy to empower children through stories, music, movement, and visual arts, allowing them to tap into creative expression to exercise their minds, honor their bodies, and build self esteem.
Through this experiential learning process, kids will improve their listening skills, enhance hand-eye coordination, develop muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility, and progress in reading skills! By simultaneously emphasizing a variety of educational disciplines, K!d Power stimulates both right and left brain connectivity, focusing on an early educational repetitive learning style that helps provide a clear foundation for mental, physical, and social development.
Join us as we venture into K!d Power Land – a journey to mind-body well-being for our pint-sized population and future generations.
Our K!d Power journey has been a physical and psychological ongoing initiative spanning the last two decades. This creative adventure has been expansive and exciting! We've explored many different arenas: from physical, nutritional, and self-esteem education; experiential after-school programming; teacher-training workshops; and elementary enrichment assemblies; and therapeutic and health national conferences, to this new exciting jump into the world of multi-media. Obviously, the wellness world has seen great change since K!d Power's initial inception. There has been overwhelming growth in children's mental and physical health conditions, a dramatic climb in childhood obesity and eating disorders, a continual lack of early education in exercise and emotional fitness. In addition, advances in technology, though some creating a positive impact, have also caused an increase sedentary lifestyle behaviors. With 25 years of experience in mental health care and child development, I was always fascinated by a lack of educational programs geared towards promoting fitness, nutrition and positive body-esteem in schools, critical components to proper youth development.
The numbers are staggering. A leading health condition in our nation, childhood obesity affects nearly 42% of our youthful population. Schools themselves are doing what they can by offering physical education and healthier lunch options; however, there is another area needing attention: children’s minds.
Enter the K!d Power approach to children's wellness. The method is simple: instilling confidence and positive body-esteem in kids on a journey through fitness, fantasy and fun. Our Power programs introduce a variety of storybook characters with unique abilities that encourage active participation and imagination — “Stretching Shea,” “Sliding Sam” and “Jumping Jai” just to name a few! Each program teaches kids how to safely exercise, alongside lessons in nutrition, building confidence, and fostering positive body-esteem.
If we can teach young minds to enjoy the fitness journey, then we can help empower them to maintain active lifestyles. My ultimate goal is to refocus attention on the power of connection between the mind and body.
A healthy inside nourishes a healthy outside!
With love,
Michele Lynne Tamarkin
