Personal Growth Projects

House of Happiness

What Are You Hungry For: Nourishing Your Body, Mind & Soul

What Are You Hungry For: Nourishing Your Body, Mind & Soul

This project will ask kids to answer:

  • What makes them happy?
  • What excites them?
  • What does that environment look like?

Steps:

  1. Ask your little ones to draw a house on a sheet of paper. It could be their own, as large or as small as they choose.
  2. Include rooms within your house that describe or contain things that make them happy or excited.
  3. (Optional). Flip the paper over to continue drawing: a driveway, front or back yard, mailbox, *trashcan or *recycling bin.
  4. Download the example at the bottom of this page!

* For older children, this might represent negative behaviors or feelings they wish to discard or change.

What Are You Hungry For: Nourishing Your Body, Mind & Soul

This project explores the deeper connection between emotion and food. Recipients will learn to connect with their emotional and physical hunger needs both inside and outside of the kitchen using Michele’s 5-step approach.

Steps:

  1. Awareness begins the path toward change. Can you identify a difference between your emotional and physical hunger?
  2. Defining nourishment: Emotional versus physical hunger. Are you getting your needs met?
  3. Understanding behavior: Hunger versus fullness. Are you practicing intuitive eating to satiate physical hunger or *using food to fulfill an emotional void?
  4. Taking inventory: What do you believe to be true about yourself?
  5. Using the information: Addressing emotional and spiritual needs. What are you really hungry for?

Michele suggests journaling on the above questions to help facilitate self-discovery when it comes to understanding one’s own emotional attachment to food.
